  • Literacy Project

Lake Hamilton 5th graders recently read with Lake Hamilton EAST High School Students. Ms. Kandlbinder's 5th grade students interviewed EAST students about personal interests to help boost their writing skills and then read to the high school students to encourage their literacy skills. High School students also interviewed the 5th graders of which many realized what they were like as fifth graders, and also gave the High School students a chance to be a mentor to a younger student. Ms. Kandlbinder headed the project up, and Ms. Britt provided the EAST students to promote literacy and writing.

  • Doctor Visit

Dr. Praetzel came to LH 5th grade to teach them about facial trauma. He presented a program to the kids and then they were able to put actual plates and screws in skulls that he brought for the program. At the end of the program a drawing was held and 10 children were able to take their skulls home. He plans on making this an annual event for the 5th grade class.
