Lake Hamilton Junior High Future Business Leaders of America

On Monday, October 1, 2007, 31 members of the Lake Hamilton Junior High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and 45 members of the Lake Hamilton Middle School FBLA attended the District IV Middle Level Fall Conference at Henderson State University. Mrs. Diane Welch, LHJHS sponsor and Ms. Angie Key, LHMS sponsor, as well as parent chaperones Rhonda Anderson, Mrs. Woodall, and Mrs. McFarlane accompanied the members. Jim Brock, Arkansas State FBLA Advisor from the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education welcomed all the schools at the conference. Mac Bell from the March of Dimes and Sarah Steifvater from the Arkansas Children’s Hospital made presentations thanking Arkansas FBLA members for their past contributions and outlining this year’s fundraising projects. Keynote speaker, James Malinchak (co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books) was the guest speaker. His speech “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It” was inspiring to all the members, guests, and teachers present. He told students that if they want to pursue something, they must be ready and that we don’t get what we want in life-we get what we expect because we program ourselves to get it. He told them to keep a positive attitude because their attitude will help them achieve their goals and get on to the clear, smooth path to success and to get rid of the negatives influences in their lives because they can keep you from achieving your goals. After his speech, officers speeches were made and new District IV officers were elected and then the meeting was adjourned.
